Rafat Pirzada
Rafat Pirzada was a co-founder and VP of Marketing at Cyras Systems, an El Dorado Ventures portfolio company acquired by Ciena in 2001. After the acquisition, Rafat served as VP of Marketing and Business Development for the Metro Switching Division of Ciena. He has held key marketing positions with market leaders including Cisco, Xylan and Fiberlane, helping them define products and strategies for the carrier market in addition to evangelizing their vision both externally and internally. He has been a TCCB member for IEEE 802.x, as well as Sprint's representative at ANSI X39T5 (FDDI). He received a BA (with highest honors) in math from Skidmore College, and an MSEE from Columbia University. |
