CALABASAS, Calif. -- Strix Systems, the leader in high-performance wireless mesh networking, today announced its Access/One(R) Outdoor Wireless System (OWS) was named the "Wireless Product of the Year" at NetEvents' Technology Leader 2006 awards. The award was announced on February 23rd at a prestigious awards banquet held in the Winter Olympic town of Garmisch, Germany as part of the NetEvents European Press & Analyst Summit 2006.
More than 35 top European press and analysts were involved in judging the "Technology Leader Awards." In this particular category for "Wireless Product of the Year," the judges included industry analysts from Ovum as well as and journalists from Computable (Netherlands), TechWorld (UK), and PC World (Romania). While presenting the award, Peter Judge of TechWorld summed up the judges decision: "In a year when wireless LANs more-or-less went into consolidation mode, wireless mesh networks continued to develop. Strix launched its OWS in April, and it not only has the best features and functionalities in the industry but it has also been rapidly deployed in cities and countries worldwide, including the largest deployed wireless city of Tempe, AZ, U.S.A. Also, Strix's OWS is modular and can be easily upgraded to WiMAX by simply inserting a WiMAX radio module. We look forward to seeing what they do next."
"To be selected as the Wireless Product of the Year by such a strong panel of press and analyst judges from pan Europe, especially among such tough competition, is yet another strong proof point of Strix's technology leadership," said Nan Chen, Vice President of Marketing at Strix Systems. "Strix's OWS has enabled Tempe's residents to benefit from low cost Internet access and IP telephony across the entire city, while public services such as police and fire departments can access vital data as they speed to the rescue (see video at www.strixsystems.com). Strix is also currently establishing the world's first nation-wide wireless mesh network across the country of Macedonia. Only Strix's multi-radio, multi-RF, multi-channel wireless mesh can provide the high throughput and low latency needed to cost-effectively provide simultaneous voice, video, and data services across entire cities and even countries -- and we are glad that this was recognized by the judges."
The NetEvents Technology Leaders 2006 award was the first in what will become an annual event open to all suppliers of networking or telecommunications products or services launched and delivered in the 12 months prior to January 31st each year. The award ceremonies will be incorporated into a NetEvents Press Summit -- regular 2-day events held across Europe, Asia and the U.S. -- to bring together industry leaders and the world's press. The award is a non-profit enterprise, with all proceeds going to charity -- to be shared this year between the American Cancer Society and the Prostate Project Foundation for Cancer Research.
"Congratulations to Strix on being our first Wireless Product of the Year award winner against strong competition," said Mark Fox, Founder of NetEvents. |
