Entrisphere Announces BLM 1500 To Spur Major Carrier Migration To Advanced Telco Services
World's Most Complete Multi-Service Access Platform Delivers Any Voice, Data, or Video Service Over PON or Copper Infrastructure
SANTA CLARA, CA. Mar. 1, 2005 -- Entrisphere, the company that is changing the access business for major incumbent carriers, today announced its Broadband Loop Multiplexer (BLM) 1500™, the world's most complete multi-service access platform (MSAP). The BLM 1500 is the first MSAP to integrate all major access network service and transport functions on a single platform, including PON OLT, NGDLC/DSLAM, packet voice gateway, as well as IP and analog video support along with SONET and IP transport. It offers the flexibility and control carriers need to deliver a full range of circuit- and packet-based voice, video, or data applications via fiber or copper infrastructure while migrating their access networks to a simpler and less costly architecture.

The BLM 1500 is already in use by Telephone & Data Systems (see TDS Telecom Deploys Entrisphere BLM 1500 To Deliver Triple Play Services Via Fiber And Copper, also released today) as well as many other customers. In pursuing carrier deployments, Entrisphere has quickly earned a reputation as the industry's most responsive access network equipment partner. For example, Entrisphere was the first company to deliver into live service an ITU G.983-compliant B-PON OLT that fully interoperates with third-party B-PON ONTs meeting customer requirements to support standards. Entrisphere was also the first to deliver certified H.248 media gateway compatibility for POTS and PON lines, the first to deliver IGMP-based switched digital video over both PON and ADSL2+, and the first to deliver integrated OC-48 transport with 3/1/0 grooming capabilities, all from a single MSAP in production networks.

Industry-Leading Integration and Application Support
Based on an 18-slot, fully hardened 14RU chassis, the BLM 1500 can deliver any service from any slot through a variety of Entrisphere solutions for Video services, High Speed Data service, Packet Voice services, Ethernet, and Transparent LAN service, all with a unified management interface. Specific applications include Fiber-to-the-Premises (FTTP), Fiber-to-the-Curb (FTTC), Fiber-to-the-Node (FTTN), IGMP-based switched digital video or IPTV, RF video, VoIP and packet voice (H.248), ADSL and ADSL2+, Gigabit Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, OC-48, T1 (HiCap), DS3, and POTS.
For painless integration into existing carrier operations, the BLM 1500 is compliant with all applicable standards, including ITU G.983 (FSAN), GR-303, TR-08 Mode I and II, H.248, TR-57, GR -253, GR-487, and NEBS™ Level 3. In addition, the BLM 1500 has been characterized through the OSMINE process for the following Telcordia® systems: TIRKS®, LFACS, SWITCH®/DLE, TEMS (TEAM), NMA®. Entrisphere's partnership with leading enclosure suppliers allows carriers to deploy the BLM 1500 in central office, remote terminal or cabinet environments.
In addition, the BLM 1500 simplifies carrier adoption with its Element Management System (EMS), EntriView™, and its patent-pending Virtual Network Element (VNE™) technology. Because every major carrier has discrete teams that manage individual services such as DSL, TDM voice, or T1, any change from the present method of operation (PMO) requires costly and time-consuming training. VNE technology allows carrier operations teams to manage each of the BLM 1500's functions as if it were a collection of discrete network elements, essentially continuing their PMO. In addition, EntriView, a full-function EMS, ensures that the BLM 1500 integrates seamlessly into carrier operational support systems (OSS) for legacy and new services.
