San Jose, CA - FusionOne, the leading provider of mobile phone backup services, today announced that it has named Mike Mulica as its new chief executive officer.
Rick Onyon, FusionOne’s founder, will move into the role of chairman and chief strategy officer, as the company scales in response to growing demand for mobile backup services.
Mulica joins FusionOne with 20 years of industry experience. He most recently served as President and CEO of Bridgeport Networks, a leader in mobile to Voice over IP (VoIP) roaming. In 2007, Mulica was recognized as a technology pioneer by the World Economic Forum for his work at the company. Mulica was also the senior vice president of worldwide customer operations for Openwave Systems (Nasdaq:OPWV), formerly Phone.com, a global leader of open Internet-based communication infrastructure software.
“FusionOne has evolved from a start-up to being the unequivocal leader in the mobile backup space, and I see tremendous potential for further growth,” said Mulica. “FusionOne’s solution is more than just an application on a mobile user’s phone – it’s a guarantee that subscribers’ data will be protected and will never be lost. The value proposition that FusionOne brings to global carriers, coupled with our experienced management team and innovative engineering talent, puts us in an excellent position to expand to meet the growing demand for mobile backup services.”
As chairman of the board and chief strategy officer, former CEO Onyon will now set the direction for FusionOne’s business and product strategy. Working closely with Mulica and the rest of the executive team, he will lead the company with his vision for FusionOne’s next-generation products.
“Mike comes to us with a wealth of knowledge and experience, and is well respected in the industry,” said Onyon. “He has a strong track record for taking technology companies to the next level, and we look forward to working with him to continue building on our success and implementing new strategies as we scale to meet the increasing needs of carriers around the world for a reliable and secure mobile backup solution.” |
