DALLAS -- RipCode Inc. today announced intent to support Adobe(R) Flash(R) Media Server 3 and the updated version of Adobe(R) Flash(R) Player 9 using the standards-based H.264 codec. RipCode was selected to participate in the Adobe Flash Media Solution Provider Program (FMSP) to insure compatibility between media transcoded by RipCode and the Adobe Flash Media Server.
The Adobe Flash Media Solution Provider Program was developed to recognize the important role of the Flash ecosystem and the importance partners play in creating and delivering Flash streaming content for consumption in a live and on-demand environment and foster a closer relationship through a structured partnership with the top partners in the streaming media industry.
"The rapid evolution of video technology makes it important for Adobe to build relationships with industry specialists that bring added value and support for Adobe Flash technologies," said Kevin Towes, product manager, Flash Media Server at Adobe. "We look forward to working with RipCode as a Flash encoding partner. Their appliance-based technology gives organizations encoding content for delivery via the Flash Player development community a uniquely alternative solution for high throughput transcoding."
"H.264 is rapidly becoming the compression format of choice for delivering quality and efficiency in multimedia applications and we're delighted that Adobe Flash Player has adopted this standard," said Brendon Mills, RipCode CEO. "We look forward to being actively involved in Adobe's Flash Media Solution Provider program and working closely with the development community to ensure that RipCode continues to support the most popular codecs and standards demanded by the digital video industry."
RipCode's patent-pending transcoding appliance rapidly processes multiple video files simultaneously for viewing across a variety of media including PCs, mobile phones and iPods(R). This consolidated processing enables broadcasters, content syndicators, and user generated video sites to reduce hardware, storage and energy use while offering customers a greater variety of content choices.
More information about RipCode's innovative transcoding solution will be available from their website beginning September 17th, or stop by their booth at IBC - Stand 7.821 to learn more.
