Security Innovator Taps Industry Heavyweight, Closes Funding Led by El Dorado Ventures to Accelerate Company Expansion
SAN MATEO, CA -- Sana Security, the leading behavioral security software company, today announced that high-profile industry veteran Don Listwin has been appointed CEO to help further accelerate the company’s rapid growth. Additionally, Sana has successfully closed $12 million in funding to fuel the expansion.
Listwin, who has built multiple billion-dollar businesses, takes on this new challenge at a time in which malware has become an organized, for-profit “economy.” At Sana, he will help to further harness the exploding market opportunity for the company’s Active Malware Defense Technology that monitors behaviors to detect and remove all traces of malicious software.
In his new position, Listwin will focus on company financing, formulating strategy, and developing partner relationships. Former CEO John Zicker has taken on the newly created position of president, in which he will continue to run day-to-day operations and will work closely with Listwin to expand the business.
“The stakes in the security marketplace are rising dramatically,” according to Listwin. “Sana’s Active Malware Defense Technology is the security platform of the future, capable of detecting and removing the emerging threats presented by Web 2.0 malware.”
“The company has benefited greatly from Don’s leadership, strategic vision and industry contacts since he joined our board in 2004,” said Zicker. “I’m pleased that we’ll have the opportunity to work together even more closely to achieve those objectives.”
According to Listwin, his role as CEO at Sana represents a natural progression of interest in and ownership of the company over the past several years, first as a board member and investor, and later as board chairman and major investor.
About Don Listwin
A 25-year industry veteran, Listwin highlighted his career at Cisco Systems (NASDAQ:CSCO), where he held a number of positions of increasing responsibility during a 10-year period that saw revenue grow from $69 million to $19 billion, and culminated in his appointment as the #2 executive at the company. Most recently, Listwin founded and ran the Canary Foundation, a public non-profit organization dedicated to the early detection of cancer. Prior to Canary Foundation, Listwin was president and CEO of Openwave Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:OPWV), the world's leading provider of open software and services for the communications industry.
