Year Funded: 2000
Venture capital investing is about more than money – it’s about creating partnerships between entrepreneurs and investors to start and build successful technology companies.
El Dorado Ventures played a key role throughout the short and very successful life of NuSpeed Internet Systems, a storage area networking company funded by EDV in 2000. EDV General Partner Charles Beeler brought the company to EDV’s attention shortly after he joined the firm, and then he and the El Dorado team proceeded to leverage their industry contacts on behalf of NuSpeed and introduce the company to strategic partners or potential customers such as Veritas Software, Intel, Legato and Cisco Systems.
Soon after the company was introduced to Cisco, the networking giant offered to buy NuSpeed for $463 million. “El Dorado played a significant role in helping us quickly ramp NuSpeed from an idea to acquisition,” said Mark Cree, former CEO of NuSpeed. "The wealth of industry contacts and access to El Dorado's Technology Partners allowed us to quickly establish key relationships and credibility within the storage industry. Charles Beeler was always available to provide a third-party view and his endless energy and enthusiasm made working with him a real pleasure.” |
